Have you ever had something tug at your
heartstrings? Well, the desire to
encourage other women has been deep down in me for some time now,
just scratching to get out. I enjoyed taking a couple creative writing electives many years ago, and the desire to write has appeared again. But I really didn't know where to start. The medium of blogging never even occurred to me, until I started
reading another gal’s blog about six weeks ago.
She’s also a young Christian mom and designed her site to encourage
women just like me!
My husband Travis
and I have been married for three years and we are blessed with two beautiful
children: Kellen, age 2, and Madelyn (Maddy), 4 months. My days are filled
with caring for my kids and sniffing baby hair, running after my rambunctious son,
running after my rambunctious son- Oh, did I say that already? You get the point! Not to mention, daily tasks and
housework, supporting and encouraging my husband, paperwork and bills,
working my part-time job as a piano teacher, cooking and so much more. With all this to do, I try to prioritize time
with the Lord reading my bible, praying, and keeping focused as a Christian. Anyone else get exhausted just reading this
list? How do we balance all those things
with beauty and grace, and enjoy life in the process?
Discovering the world of blogging several weeks ago gave me
just the encouragement I needed at the time.
I was balancing busy days with Kellen, and Maddy was 2 months and still
nursing. My husband had to work late
during a busy season at his job and the days felt sooo long. I got together with other moms in my church,
but it felt few and far between and I was still lonely. And with gas prices being what they are, who has money
to spend just to “get out of the house” during the week? The blogs I found gave me a few words of
encouragement every day and reminded me that I wasn’t alone. In a short season of exhaustion, I was
encouraged not JUST to do my best as a mom while trying to grow in the Lord,
but to flourish and be creative!
Join me on
this journey, as I’ve been inspired to start a weekly blog to hopefully
encourage other women and moms just as I have been encouraged. I plan to include creative and
practical ideas for mothering and homemaking, posts about real life, and
share from my heart what God is teaching me and doing in my life. Please pray for me as I start writing this
blog and ask the Lord to use me. We’ll
see where this leads!
When you have a quick break or your baby is down for nap time,
I hope you’ll pour yourself a cup of coffee with hazelnut creamer and join me.
